If you’re a bit of a worrier about loved ones getting lost, the Locate Link is for you. By simply saving this link, you’ll be prepared if you can’t find their location or they can’t easily say where they are.
With the summer holidays upon us, it’s a helpful way for parents to get their kids’ location quickly and precisely. It’s also a good tool for those who care for vulnerable people, or for use with anyone you know who struggles with technology.
Here’s how it works
Copy the link below and send it to the person you’d like to locate. When they open the link, they’ll be taken to a web page which will display the 3 words for their location. This page has been designed to have a low data requirement, so it should load even in areas with poor data connection. They can then send you these words or give you them over the phone.

OBITUARY

I am sorry to let you know of the death of Raymond (Ray) Bettison,
formerly Chief Architect, Premises Department, on 25 May 2025, aged 90.
The funeral is on Wednesday, 25 June at 1 pm at Rawdon Crematorium, Leeds Road, Rawdon, Leeds LS19 6JP.
Following the service pensioner colleagues are most welcome to attend a reception at The Malt Shovel, Main Street, Menston LS29 6LL.
The funeral service will be live-streamed on the day and will also be available for a period of 28 days to watch afterwards. If you would like the online link please email me on andrea.plusmag@btinternet.com

The May edition of PLUS
Is now ready to view via the YOBS private website. PLUS can only be accessed via the website and you need to be registered to use it. If you haven't registered and would like to do so now, just send an email to the site administrator, John Jefferis, on access@yobs.org.uk with a note of where you retired from and the year. A £2 subscription will be required which John will let you know how to pay. Dependants are also welcome to register using the same email address - when you write please will you include the full name of your spouse/partner and the last branch/department they worked for.
If you've already registered with YOBS you can go straight to www.yobs.org.uk (there's a link at the end of this message) and enter the user name and password which John gave you when you joined the site. Then select the PLUS MAGAZINE tab/menu option which takes you through to links to the current and past editions. It's possible to download the magazine from the website, save it to your own device and print it out if you wish. Contact John if you need help with this.

East Yorkshire lunch meeting
Please note that the East Yorkshire lunch meeting, which normally takes place on the third Wednesday of the month, has a change of date for June when it will take place on Wednesday the 25th. The venue is Cottingham Parks Golf & Leisure Club, Woodhill Way, Cottingham HU16 5SW. Meet for coffee around 11 am, followed by lunch. All welcome including new visitors, partners and friends. The July meeting is on Wednesday, 16 July. As customary, there will be no meeting in August.
